“If you surround yourself with the good and righteous, they can only raise you up. If you surround yourself with the others, they will drag you down into the doldrums of mediocrity, and they will keep you there, but only as long as you permit it.” — Mark Glamack
As I wrap up the tasks to close out LessConf 2012, and I think back on the events and interactions of the past few days, I’m reminded of this old quote about judging a man by his friends. If what Mark Glamack surmises is true, Steve and I are extremely lucky and blessed people. Our friends are people that lift others up and disregard the opinions of the opposition. Our friends relentlessly root for others who are doing interesting things, supporting them with their energy and their wallets.
This event that Steve and I host is something special. It has its share of hiccups things that need improvement, but it is unmatched. LessConf isn’t magical because of us. We’re just the fire starters. We simply light the match. Without friends who are willing to laugh at themselves, accept people, share experiences and help bring others up, this event would be much different.
If you retweeted our promotions or attended this year, we thank you, and we appreciate your friendship.
