Every day I make decisions based on a desire, thought, or idea. Sometimes these ideas are obviously good or bad, and sometimes they’re things I need to talk through with Allan or my kids. But sometimes the idea is really good, or at least it makes me feel really good.
However, when I think through the outcome of the idea, it rarely makes me feel as good. When internalizing “why” I want to do whatever the idea is, often my answer is, “I don’t know.” When my answer to why I want something is, “I don’t know,” I remind myself, “This means ‘No.’”
“I don’t know” is not a valid reason to do anything, “I don’t know” is bullshit. It’s as simple as that.
