Water Fast Day 2

Day 2 went pretty well.

I went for a jog around noon. I took it slow and only ran 3.5 KM instead of my usual five, but I felt pretty good. At the end I felt like I could have done more. That left me feeling pretty hungry through the afternoon. The hunger came and went. When it came I drank water and then it went away. I drank way more water yesterday than the first day. The rest of the day I felt a bit light headed every time I stood up, so I was careful. Fixing the kids dinner wasn’t so hard. Dinner time was difficult; just sitting there watching them eat was hard. When they were finished I was very tempted to take a bite, but instead I quickly trashed the remains.

I woke up early this morning, feeling pretty good. The scale says I’ve lost 9 lbs. since Sunday.

Why I’m Fasting

I’d love to say that I’m only doing this as a cleansing detox for my health, but the truth is I’ve been plateauing in weight loss since the beginning of January and I’ve been trying to think of ways to help get back on track. My clothes are loose now which feels great, but leaves me without the motivation that tight clothes gave me.

For a few weeks I’ve thought of doing a fast, but I wasn’t sure about it. In early 2008 I did the Master Cleanser for eight days. That’s where you only drink water with cayenne pepper and grade B maple syrup. You’re meant to do ten days, but it was very difficult for me, so I stopped after eight. That was so difficult for me that I wasn’t sure I wanted to do it again. So far this fast has been much easier.

Tomorrow I’ll tell you about what led me to decide to do this fast, and why I think it’s been easier than last time.
