1Password Tips
written by Allan on October 03, 2012
I’ve had a 1password serial code since I bought it in some bundle years ago. Finally I decided to give it a try.
What is 1password?
This is from the 1password website. “1Password can create strong, unique passwords for you, remember them, and restore them, all directly in your web browser.”
Here’s some tips I’ve discovered that you might find interesting.
- Download a Browser Extension
- Learn Keyboard Shortcuts
- Sync with Dropbox: this is great for syncing between multiple devices, I’m doing ipad, iphone and laptop)
- Store your credit cards numbers in 1Password for easier e-commerce
- Easy Multiple Factor Authentication. Easily fill in those stupid questions about the street you grew up on)
- Find your weakest passwords. “Since reusing passwords is one of the most common mistakes most folks make, we wanted to make it easy to fix the problem. Ideally you want to make sure that every site has a unique password, but here is how you can determine which passwords are the weakest and change them first. It is a great place to start.”
Disclosure: there are other alternatives to this product which I have not tried. There’s lastpass.com, dashlane.com and DataVault (probably many more as well).
If you have other tips to recommend or like another product better please leave a comment

I’m a huge LastPass fan and have been for several years, but I will checkout 1Password to see what features it has. Thanks!
For the first time since using a computer, I actually feel most of my accounts are safe. I have 2-factor auth on the accounts that allow it, and use Google/Facebook auth on most everything else.
But aside from bank accounts and the like, I really don’t care if someone gets into anything. Please hack into my Facebook, Twitter and Steam. A lot of good it’ll do you.
Been using 1Password for a year until I switched to Linux. Loved everything about it – except the fact that there’s no Linux client.. :( Linux really needs a good password manager with browser extensions…
