I hate the web 2.0 tech news - What a waste of time
written by Allan on June 24, 2008
Okay so I don't hate them but they are getting on my nerves. They report the news and the reporting sucks. It's gotten boring. So boring they make me want to shut my computer off and go play with my son. What a waste of time. What happened to opinions, real opinions? I am tired of reading about the latest Facebook feature or how LinkedIn is worth a billion dollars. If you're going to write a review on an app, give me something besides a "nice" summary. Rip the app apart, why does it suck, where are the cool parts? I am sick of hearing who got VC funded and who is in the dead pool. VC money means crap to me, I don't care how much they swindled you into taking. Bloggers, I want to be inspired by your thoughts, I want to be energized by your opinions. I want to be angered if I disagree with you, I want to feel something other than that you wasted my time.

Awesome post. I feel the same way, just get the feeling of rage and want to punch them in the face.
You’re just angry, because you aren’t VC funded. Get over it!
That is why I stopped looking at Techcrunch. After a while all posted went like this:
Company XYZ release their private pre-release Retarder service today. I can’t figure out what the hell it does but insiders are saying it can be monetized to a billion dollars if we sneeze on it right. We’ll be keeping a close eye on this one.
@Jörn,
I can assure you that is not the case. Several times a year we are approached by VC wanting to sell us their money. Each time we listen to their pitch asking how will a sudden influx of capital benefit us or our users. The answer seems to be that it won’t. It will feed our egos and make others think better of us, but in the end it becomes a giant distraction. So we’ve turned it down every time. We might take it next time, but we are certainly not angry about not taking VC money.
Hey Steven, thanks for the reply. Nevermind anyway, I was just trying to tease Allan. He asked for it!
