People abandoning Microsoft Vista
written by Steven on August 22, 2007
Chris tells us that he is not alone in his frustrations with Vista, and that Microsoft actually allows users to "Downgrade" their Vista licenses to become licenses for XP.
Joel tells us of his frustrations with everything, starting with the box, and that he is now recommending "that nobody should be using it as their primary operating system — it simply has no redeeming merits to overcome the compatibility headaches it causes."
This only leaves me with one question: Why isn't my Apple stock at $200 yet? ;)

I have to support Vista at work and hate it. Its exceedingly frustrating to find things and very very slow.
The one redeeming feature I’ve found is it now has some sort of “su” or “sudo” functionality built-in so I don’t have to logout unprivileged users to perform administrative functions.
I think Outlook is whats keeping most people on Windows. Even people who find it slow and difficult are a slave to its Exchange integration. There’s also the ongoing problem of sites being IE only or using ActiveX or other MS-only technologies.
Until I strike it rich and can afford a Mac, I’ll be using Linux. :)
